The rain hitting Sydney today has been coming from multiple directions, according to Weatherzone meteorologist Ben Domensino.
It’s due to the rising moisture and rain near the ground moving from east to west.
There is also rain above 6km that is moving from north to south.
Major flooding expected for Queensland town
Authorities are monitoring the flood bank levy in Charleville, a remote town in Queensland’s west.
A river peak of 6.7 metres is expected but the levy has a capacity of 7.9 metres, so it is not expected to overflow.
But the heavy rainfall could lead to flooding and roads being cut off.
Locals are warned to check for closures and to not drive through flooded roads.
SES crews have been deployed to the town.
